I don&#8217;t have the brainpower to imagine the story, the characters, and the visuals all at once, so I&#8217;ve been working on it for months and months, trying to build it up and break it down again. It&#8217;s already early summer&#8230;&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>On March 31 in a tweet, Makoto Shinkai revealed that he has been working on the screenplay of his new movie for three months. But he is really struggling at it.<\/p>\n<p>He said, &#8220;I&#8217;ve\u00a0been writing the screenplay for my new film for the past two months, and every day I don&#8217;t know what to think about now, what to say, or what we want to see in a few years. But I still write anyway.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>From the looks of it, Mokoto Shinkai has been working on his new project for more than 6 months now. So, the new movie is in its initial stage of pre-production and it most probably won&#8217;t be arriving until 2022.<\/p>\n<p>His latest movie, Weathering with you <a href=\"https:\/\/animenewsandfacts.com\/weathering-with-you\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Weathering with you<\/a> debuted in Japan on July 19, 2019 debuted<a href=\"https:\/\/animenewsandfacts.com\/your-name-director-makoto-shinkais-tenki-no-ko-release-date-and-new-anime-key-visual-revealed\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u00a0in Japan on July 19, 2019<\/a>\u00a0and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.boxofficemojo.com\/releasegroup\/gr3001700869\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">earned more than $192 million worldwide<\/a>.
